Dr. Sylvia serves on the Science Writing Team at RLA. As a writer and analyst, Dr. Sylvia develops advanced documents to move science forward (e.g., research syntheses, meeting reports, and public-facing documents) and delivers high-level research, analysis, and project management support for underlying research efforts. Her work has supported wide-ranging initiatives at the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health, the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program, and the National Institute on Aging. Dr. Sylvia has broad experience in both basic and clinical science in government, academia, and the private sector, with a publication record in peer-reviewed journals. Prior to joining RLA, she completed postdoctoral research on influenza vaccines at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health while simultaneously working as a scientific editor for researchers in multiple scientific disciplines. Dr. Sylvia completed her PhD in biology at Indiana University Bloomington, where she studied the influence of the brain, endocrine system, and microbiome on social behavior, and her BS in biology at Stonehill College.
